- We learned about the different types of animals: les animaux domestiques and les animaux sauvages.
- We talked about our favourite animal
- We played an animal musical game where students have to dance with the music and when the music stops, they have to act out the different animals that are shown to them. Here, everyone has to act the elephant "'l'éléphant"!
- We reviewed the different types of professions/community helpers
- We talked about where they work and what tools they use
- We read a book about "le vétérinaire" and found out about what the job entails and the equipment used.
Grade 1:
- We talked about primary and secondary colors and how to create secondary colors by using the primary colors. We tried mixing a variety of colors to create new colors, then we worked on a worksheet.
- We also talked about warm colors "les couleurs chaudes" and cool colors "les couleurs froides" and worked on a worksheet.
Grade 2:
- We discussed immigration and the terms "imigrer" and "émigrer"
- We also learned about the two types of factors & examples: les facteurs d'attraction (pull factors) and les facteurs de répulsion (push factors)
- We reviewed the different means of transportation to get from one place to another
- Students got a chance to share about where they or their family member(s) immigrated from, why they immigrated and by which transportation.
- We discussed where we came from and used which transportation. We had fun writing on sticky notes and putting them up on chart paper: one side for country and the other side for transportation. We have a very multicultural class with students and/or their families from all over the world. Most of us and/or our families came by airplane!
