On the last week of 2015, students were working on Christmas activities and practicing Christmas vocabulary words. Below are just some pictures of what some of the classes did.
Also, they did a wonderful job at the Christmas concert! Bravo everybody! It was a success.

Please find below a summary of activities we did in our Primary French class this week.
Grade 1 and 2:
How We Organize Ourselves: Students have learned how to say they are organized and provided examples. e.g. Je suis organisé parce que.... je range mes jouets, je range la table, ja range les chaises.. ma chambre..la maison..l'école, etc.
We have also learned some Christmas vocabulary words. Please see picture below.
SK:
Learning about the four seasons: le printemps, l'été, l'automne, et l'hiver (in that order) and the months of the year. Students learned to identify which months fall under which season.
Learning Christmas vocabulary word: NOËL and activity sheets relating to Christmas.

Students were introduced to new responsibility phrases such as "Je partage", "Je range mes jouets", "Je mange bien mes repas" etc. and how they would apply it at home and at school.

They also made a mini book on farm animals to review farm vocabulary words.. un cochon, une vache, un canard, un tracteur, une ferme, un fermier..etc
Students completed an activity on choosing a farm animal and what they provide

We have worked on expressions again. Students were provided with different emotions on chart paper and were asked how they were feeling. Each student was provided with their own name to stick on under the category that expresses how they were feeling. Students loved expressing how they felt and they were able to say "Je suis content(e)..triste..faché(e).." or "J'ai peur/faim"
We also reviewed days of the week, numbers 1-10, colours. Students mastered at naming the mentioned concepts!
This month, the French and Gym department will be running the bake sale! We will be selling baked goods, French pins and pencils to promote the French language! The baked goods will cost between 75¢ to $1.50. The French pins will cost $2.50. They come with a variety of cute designs and French phrases. You can wear the pins on your shirts, backpacks, hats, anywhere you like! The pencils will cost $1.50 each. If you're interested in the pins, please make sure to put a deposit to place your order as quantities are limited. That way, you may at least select one of the designs. In case we run out of certain selections, you may always change your selection. Thanks from the French & Gym department!

Revision on body parts and the actions involved: Avec la bouche, on mange... Avec les yeux, on regarde... On lève/baisseles mains, On plieles bras/les jambes.. Almost all students were able to successfully name the parts of the body and the actions involved.

Students continue to learn about Farm animals through songs, games and worksheets: the sounds the Farm animals make, the food they provide, counting animals and writing the numbers, and coloring animals by numbers. Students continue to practice expressing emotions: "Je suis content(e)" and "Je suis triste". Almost all students were able to say the full sentences by themselves.
They are also learning new emotions such as faché(e), faim, and surpris(e).
Students had fun playing games and working on play-doh mats to express how they were feeling that day. Please see below for pictures.
This week, the PYP French classes were working on activities related to this special day. The older grades did a fill in the blank activity with Remembrance Day vocabulary words. The younger grades made a poppy out of construction paper and learned the French term for poppy which is "le coquelicot". Please see below for pictures.

Distinguishing between masculine and feminine and plural and singular clothing items using the following phrases "C'est un.. C'est une... Ce sont des..."
