La 15e semaine

JK:
  • Students worked on activities related to Christmas and played games to review Christmas vocabulary terms
  • We played "La neige, la neige, la bonhomme de neige!" (like the game Duck, Duck, Goose)

  • For this activity, students came up individually to match the Christmas words to those appeared on the chart paper with images

  • We had fun cutting and pasting the letters "S-A-P-I-N" (meaning Christmas tree) and arranging the letters in order. We also got to decorate our tree after.

  • We worked on a vocabulary worksheet where students had to circle the Christmas words that match with the ones given.

SK:
  • We reviewed the four seasons and talked about the five senses of "l'hiver" (winter).
  • For example: Pendant l'hiver....je vois la neige, j'écoute de la musique de Noël, je gôute une canne de noël, je touche un bonhomme de neige, je sens le pain d'épice. We discovered new vocabulary terms related to Christmas.

  • We also made a booklet called "les cinq sens à Noël" (the five senses of Christmas). In the booklet, students had to write the phrases related to each sense "Je sens, Je vois, Je goûte, Je touche and J'écoute" and making sure that they match with the visual clues. They also get to draw the missing images of Christmas items mentioned in the booklet.

Grade 1:
  • We continued to talk about routine and how to tell time using the 24 hour clock.
  • We practiced saying what time we get up, eat lunch, go to sleep..
  • Students were introduced to some Christmas vocabulary words

Grade 2:
  • We continued to talk about countries and ethnicities in the classroom: which country we are from and which ethnicity we belong to. For example: Je viens du Portugal. Je suis portugais(e).
  • We discovered new Christmas vocabulary terms.
  • We made a little booklet that discusses how we celebrate Christmas in Canada.
  • We also talked about Christmas around the world and ways other people celebrate Christmas in other countries such as la France, le Mexique, l'Italie, la Russie, l'Allemagne, etc...
